St. Louis Sting Hockey Club Discipline Policy
Purpose
The St. Louis Sting Hockey Club is committed to fostering a positive and respectful environment for all players, coaches, parents, and officials. This discipline policy outlines the procedures and expectations for addressing behavioral concerns, suspensions, and related disciplinary matters.
Scope
This policy applies to all players, parents, coaches, and volunteers associated with the St. Louis Sting Hockey Club.
Responsibilities
Discipline Coordinator
The Discipline Coordinator for St. Peter's Hockey Club will be responsible for managing all discipline-related issues, including but not limited to:
- Player suspensions
- Behavioral concerns
- Parent-related discipline
Suspension Policy
Suspensions may be issued for the following reasons:
- Unsportsmanlike conduct
- Verbal or physical abuse of officials, coaches, or players
- Disrespectful behavior towards teammates or opponents
- Violations of team rules or conduct expectations
Length of Suspensions will be determined by the Discipline Coordinator based on the severity and frequency of the offense. Repeated and/or severe violations can lead to removal from the program.
Behavior Concerns
- Investigation: The Discipline Coordinator will conduct a fair and thorough investigation of any reported incidents.
- Resolution: Appropriate actions will be taken based on the findings of the investigation, which may include counseling, additional training, or disciplinary action, including removal from the program in severe cases.
Parent-Related Discipline
Parents are expected to model positive behavior and support their child and the team. Disciplinary actions for parents may include meetings with the Discipline Coordinator, warnings, or restrictions on attendance at games and practices, which could lead to removal from the program if behavior does not improve.
Appeals Process
- All initial discipline decisions will be made by the St. Peter's Hockey Club’s Discipline Coordinator.
- Filing an Appeal: To appeal a discipline decision, submit an electronic written appeal along with a $100 fee, which will be donated to the St. Louis Youth Hockey Foundation.
- Review by Appeals Committee: The designated Appeals Committee will review the appeal based on the submitted information and relevant evidence.
- Further Appeals: If unsatisfied with the Appeals Committee's decision, the appealing party may further appeal to the St. Louis Sting POD representatives. Additional appeals can be filed with Missouri Hockey.
Important Notes
- Members must abide by the Discipline Coordinator's decision while the appeal is pending.
- Appeals must be submitted within 14 days of receiving the initial decision.
- The Appeals Committee and Board aim to address appeals promptly and fairly.
